The honey fungus is a parasitic fungus that grows underground, forming a network of interconnected threads called mycelium. While the mushrooms that pop up from the ground may not last long, the mycelium persists, continuously expanding and colonizing new areas. It’s truly fascinating to think about the adaptability and resilience of fungi in nature, and the honey fungus in Oregon is a remarkable example of their incredible growth.
