The Invasive Species of the Day! The Tree of Heaven!
This tree native to China is known to be highly invasive and was introduced around the world centuries ago due to its quick growth, shade, and ability to grow in less than ideal areas. Of course we now know that this is a recipe for disaster when it comes to introducing species. Due to its ability to create “suckers” (which are clone sprouting from its roots) indefinitely, this tree will choke out the root systems of nearby trees while also outcompeting lower vegetation by over shading it and growing clones of itself right next to them.
To act against these, when seen you can contact your local wildlife or nature conservatory branch about an outbreak, and ask them to deal with it before it gets too out of hand.
